Greetings!
Welcome to the first edition of Gettin' Hitched!
Yep, I finally took the plunge and popped the question
after five years of dating my wonderful girlfriend,
now fiancee (I still mess that up every now and
then). You're getting this because you a) are family
or a friend b) signed up to get this, or c) Hey!

So
for the dual purpose of keeping our guests informed
on what is going on in the planning process of the gala
event, and for me to have a reason to play on the Internet,
we decided to create a Website. We could have done this
on one of those "wedding" sites like Weddingchannel.com
or Cyndi's favorite (I think she is going to get carpul
tunnel syndrome from surfing too much) The
Knot. While these sites had perfectly good templates,
I decided to make ours more personal, creative, and
not so "cookie cutter." Hence, we have Our
Wedding Website.
I
will be providing the editorial for Gettin' Hitched
every month. I will try to keep it as relevant as possible
with a good mix of humor, links, and of course, the
vital information.
So
what has been going on in the life of Fred and Cyndi
with the plans?? Tons! We seem to be doing stuff every
weekend. We have the church, the reception hall, the
DJ, the dress, and "Save The Date"
cards all ready to go! We are close to booking a photographer
and the florist. Whew! I'm exhausted just writing all
of that. We have roughly 9 months to go and counting,
so I think we are in good shape.
What
to expect from this update and the Website
I plan to make enhancements to the site as the months
ware on, time permits from my busy work schedule, and
I think of new things to upload. First on my list, finish
the pages that already exist before we put any new ones.
So here is the plan...
Finalize:
- The
Wedding Party page (pictures will be updated in the
empty slots)
- the
Church page (I just need to get some directions on
there)
- and
start putting info on this little guy on the e-newsletter
page.
I
plan on enhancing the site with:
- a
photo gallery (submissions are always welcome, email
them to me at fred@faulkneriv.com)
- a
free advice submission form (because we know we are
going to get it from everyone!)
- online
RSVP (after the invitations go out, to make life easier
for everyone)
- and
a couple of other ideas along the way
Gettin'
Hitched will go out roughly on a monthly basis. It might
hit your inbox more frequently as the date approaches
as a forewarning. When we get registered, I'll put up
links to their online stores, the wedding registries
themselves, and possibly a list of "other items"
that can be found at other stores...like Home Depot.
Many women wonder why I would want to
register at Home Depot, including Cyndi, but the guys
know what I'm talking about...power tools! Arh Arh Arh
(in my best Tim Allen voice). Another feature that will
provide a little fun for this update will be a section
called Wanted Wanted Wanted (it's a working
title). This will be the part where I solicit to our
guests for things, ideas, advice, etc. I'll start Wanted
Wanted Wanted in the next issue of Gettin' Hitched.
Dear
Tech Support:
Last
year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0
and noticed that the new program began making unexpected
changes to the accounting modules, limiting access to
flower and jewelry applications that had operated flawlessly
under Boyfriend 5.0.
In
addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable
programs, such as Romance 9.9 but installed undesirable
programs such as NFL 5.0 and NBA 3.0. Conversation 8.0
no longer runs and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes
the system.
I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems,
but to no avail.
---- Desperate
Dear Desperate,
Keep
in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an entertainment package,
while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Try to enter
the command: C:/ I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME and install
Tears 6.2. Husband 1.0 should then automatically run
the applications: Guilty 3.0 and Flowers 7.0. But remember,
overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to GrumpySilence
2.5, Happyhour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad
program that will create "Snoring Loudly"
wave files. DO NOT install Mother-In-Law 1.0 or reinstall
another Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications
and will crash Husband 1.0.
In
summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does
have limited memory and cannot learn new applications
quickly. Consider buying additional software to improve
performance.
I personally recommend HotFood 3.0 and Lingerie 5.3.
Also,
running Nagging 5.3 too often can sometimes cause Husband
1.0 to secretly install Mistress 1.0, which would then
require you to run PrivateInvestigator 7.5 and possibly
even Attorney 9.0, which could lead to a system wide
failure and the need to reboot Husband 1.0.
